Long Beach Unified School District Superintendent Christopher J. Steinhauser and Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell will speak at an NAACP meeting that is open to the public at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Ernest McBride Sr. Park, 1550 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
Steinhauser will discuss education programs and other information about LBUSD. Issues such as the budget and how the community can provide support will be addressed by both the superintendent and the police chief.
"This is an opportunity for members of the public to receive information, share their concerns, solutions and ask questions. The main goals are to provide two-way communication and to help our community become safer and stronger," said Naomi Rainey, President of the Long Beach Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
