A “Soccer on Wheels” ed.news segment features a new activity at the Tucker Adult Transition Program. Student athletes in modified wheelchairs are guided by a wingman (or wingwoman) to score a goal, with fans and cheerleaders rooting them on. Adult Transition is a post-high school program for students ages 18 to 22 who have special needs.
An ed.news segment on Kettering Elementary School’s fifth annual “Fitfest” pairs local college athletes with students as they engage in various physical activities. Principal Juan Gutierrez explains that “we’re all about having a fit mind and a fit body, and we know that when you have that balance it really helps our students be better scholars.”
