Marine Band Concert Sells Out at Poly

The concert is sold out, but for those who don’t have tickets, there’s still a chance to get in.

A performance by the United States Marine Band, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Poly High School’s Andrew Osman Performing Arts Center, sold out within one day of free tickets becoming available.  The band was founded by an act of Congress in 1798 and is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization.

Officials from “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band remind ticket holders that while all tickets have been distributed for this concert, the tickets are valid until 7:15 p.m. that evening.  At that time, a standby line will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis to fill all remaining seats.

The program for the evening includes selections such as Henry Mancini’s “Great Waldo Pepper March,” John Williams’ “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” and John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

“The Marine Band is one of the most prestigious bands in the U.S.,” Poly Principal Bill Salas said.  “Hosting the group is a fantastic honor.”
