Science Mission Statement

The mission of the Science Curriculum Office is to help fan the curiosity of all students.  We have a passion to help students develop reasoning and literacy skills that enable them to actively explore their surroundings and the universe.  We work to promote these goals by providing support to teachers, administrators, parents, and support personnel, addressing the data-revealed needs of students.  We are a service-oriented department that provides researched-based professional development aimed at increasing the effectiveness of science instruction, curricular materials, and other instructional resources so that our students are empowered as independent and capable learners and problem solvers.

Science Vision Statement

Every student a responsible, productive citizen who is confident and competent to face the issues of personal and societal life.  They will have the skills to find, research, and analyze valid sources of information.  They will seek evidence-based answers to challenges they encounter using the methods of scientific inquiry and applying relevant concepts from the most current scientific understanding.

Unifying Beliefs:

Science is both the framework of our understanding of the natural world and the method by which we grow in our understanding.  It is objectively limited by the tools we use, yet is driven forward by unlimited imagination.  Science does not present dogmas; it suggests our current, best understanding which is always subject to test and refutation.  Scientific inquiry is the realm wherein we pursue our great natural curiosity and explore our potential.
