The Long Beach Unified School District offers the Career Ladder Program for Teacher’s Aides and Classified employees interested in pursuing a career in teaching.
The program offers participants:
- Professional Development (Six Workshops during the year)
- Opportunities to network with other LBUSD employees who are pursing a career in education
- A scholarship of approximately $350.00 to assist with expenses in the completion of the Bachelor’s Degree or teaching credential
In order to be eligible to apply, you must:
- Be currently enrolled in a four year university taking a minimum of 6 units per semester; college aides must be taking a minimum of 12 units
- Have completed a minimum of 48 units towards your baccalaureate degree (BA)
- Have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.75
- submit a transcript of course work taken (unofficial accepted)
- Be employed by the LBUSD for the full year of participation
- Be willing to volunteer in a classroom if your current position does not include working with children
