Academic Initiative Goals OK’d by Board

The Long Beach Unified School District Board of Education has approved student achievement goals for English, math, graduation rates and performance on the California High School Exit Exam. The goals will help schools implement the Academic and Career Success For All Initiative approved by the board earlier this school year.

The initiative’s success will be measured by fifth and eighth grade English and math proficiency, eighth grade Algebra I enrollment and proficiency, High School Exit Exam pass rates, high school graduation rates, A-G college entrance requirement completion rates, college entrance exam performance, AVID college prep participation, Advanced Placement course enrollment and passage, College Early Assessment Program performance, and college admissions.

Targets for 2013 were established for most measurements, while others will be established soon. Progress will be reported annually.
