Kimberly Dueñas, an English teacher at Marshall Academy of the Arts, is one of sixteen teachers from throughout Los Angeles County who were named as Teachers of the Year during a recent ceremony at the Universal Hilton.
The Los Angeles County Teachers of the Year will now have the opportunity to compete for the California Teacher of the Year title this fall, and from there they can take part in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
Dueñas is among three of the the Long Beach Unified School District’s most recently named Teachers of the Year. The other two LBUSD teachers are Ivy Gastelum, who teaches English as Cabrillo High School, and Katie Hickox, who teaches English at Millikan High School. Learn more about the three teachers.
