Long Beach Councilman Dee Andrews recently announced his Sixth District Literacy Program with a kickoff event at Lincoln Elementary School, where Jordan High School students helped with the festivities.
More than a hundred students from Lincoln’s afterschool WRAP program receive free books, courtesy of the Long Beach nonprofit New Life Beginnings, which has collected books throughout the year.
Students from a Jordan afterschool community service learning program joined the councilman to deliver the books along with inspirational quotes for the children. Each child received a book of their choice.
