New High School Classes at Long Beach City College

The High School Office is recruiting teachers for a new innovative collaboration between Long Beach City College and the Long Beach Unified School District. The Middle College/High School Trades and Vocational Technology Program at Long Beach City College's Pacific Coast Campus will offer LBUSD juniors the opportunity to take classes at the community college. Students will report to PCC in the morning and take four core classes from LBUSD teachers. In the afternoon, the students will take a survey class of 12 different vocational courses, as well as the "Introduction to College" course from LBCC. Four high school teachers are needed in the core areas of math, language arts/reading/ English, social studies and perhaps science, fine arts or another elective. The first semester of the new program is scheduled to begin Monday, January 29. Teachers will be assigned to four classes in the morning and remain at PCC in the afternoon to monitor students in their college classes, much like a homeroom teacher. Application deadline is Friday, January 5. For more information, call (562) 997-8117.
