Second grader Sofia Avila of Henry K-5 Dual Immersion School won the top prize in the K-2 division of a student writing contest sponsored by the California Association for Bilingual Education. She will be honored Friday, March 31 at the Anaheim Marriott during a Seal of Excellence banquet ceremony, where she’ll receive a certificate and $200. The writing contest focused on the many advantages of being bilingual and biliterate, with the theme, “How does being bilingual/multilingual make dreams come true?”
