All High Schools Win Six-Year Accreditation
May 11, 2001
The district's academic improvement continues. All six comprehensive high schools of the Long Beach Unified School District and the district's continuation high school recently received full six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC teams recently visited the schools to observe how well they serve students.
Poly and Wilson high schools received a clear term accreditation. They are only required to submit a written progress report in three years. Cabrillo, Jordan, Lakewood, Millikan and Reid high schools received six-year term accreditation, meaning they will each receive a two-day revisit in three years.
"We're extremely pleased that all schools got the full six," said H.J. Green, assistant superintendent for high schools. "It's really a reflection of the hard work of teachers, parents and administrators collaborating in putting together action plans for school improvement."
