Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell (D – Long Beach) recently honored outstanding local teachers as part of Teacher Appreciation Month. Family, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate 15 teachers from the 70th Assembly District who go above and beyond for their students and community. O’Donnell presented each with an Extraordinary Teacher Award.
“It is important that we take the time to appreciate and honor those who share the gift of knowledge through teaching,” Assemblymember O’Donnell said. “As a teacher and Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, I am proud to be surrounded by so many remarkable teachers who are dedicated to our students inside and outside of the classroom. Thank you for the outstanding work that you do every day.”
The honorees included 11 teachers from the Long Beach Unified School District: Torrie Jean Baker of Washington, Eric Cabacungan of Washington, Jacquelyn Gainer of Powell, Alina Heavin of Nelson, Andrea Hoover of Wilson, Juliane McCall of Nelson, Pamela Penn of Marshall; Ethel Seminario-Laczko of Cabrillo, Lyle Theile of Wilson, Darith Ung of Wilson and OCIPD, and Laurie Wilkerson of Riley.
