The Long Beach Branch NAACP recently donated 350 Target gift cards to Long Beach Unified School District students as part of its annual Holiday Gift Card Drive.
The gift cards were distributed to elementary students who were selected based on need. Additional cards were also given to students at Muir Academy, Cabrillo High School and the Child Development Centers. All gift cards were valued at $15 or $20.
“The COVID-19 pandemic and other factors caused many underprivileged, low-income children to not receive a gift for Christmas,” shared Long Beach NAACP President Naomi Rainey-Pierson. “That is why this program has supported the district for more than 21 years.”
