Webster Elementary School has earned the 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award Program by the California Department of Education.
The award recognizes schools and districts that designed and implemented an innovative practice during the 2020-21 school year, when California required schools to offer distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 727 schools and 121 school districts received honors for their demonstrated efforts to support students within the program’s four target areas of student engagement, distribution of technology, nutrition services and social emotional well-being of students.
“I’m incredibly proud of these schools and districts for their creativity, dedication and innovation in the face of adversity,” State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond said.
The CAPP award is a new award by the California Department of Education given to schools in place of its Distinguished Schools Program, which is anticipated to return in 2023.
