Hamilton Middle School recently celebrated the opening of a new fitness room, complete with state-of-the art equipment funded by the UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind and Henry L. Guenther Foundation.
For more than 20 years, UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind has provided modern fitness centers, fitness education curricula and educator training to schools across the country. The Hamilton fitness room marks the organization’s fifth center in the Long Beach Unified School District.
The organization's mission is to promote self-confidence and healthy lifestyle choices among today’s youth. With over 150 fitness centers serving more than 180,000 students every year, the organization also has trained hundreds of educators on its curriculum. Schools implementing the program have seen significant gains in the number of students passing state physical fitness exams.
