Kaleya Ervin, a student at Renaissance High School of the Arts, received the Youth Council Award from the Long Beach Branch NAACP during the association’s annual Gala Celebration last month. Ervin is a musician, singer, songwriter, author and entrepreneur. During the event, the 15-year-old also performed the song, “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

Former Long Beach Unified School District student Sarah Berman will star alongside Michelle Obama as a puppeteer in the second season of the Netflix series “Waffles + Mochi’s Restaurant.” Berman attended Lowell Academy, Rogers Middle school and Wilson High School. Read more at mecurynews.com.
